The GentleWave® Procedure

Acoustic fluid-wave cleaning

The GentleWave® Procedure represents a paradigm shift in root canal cleaning. Conventional methods rely on metal files to physically scrape canal walls, which can miss complex micro-anatomy. GentleWave uses patented multisonic technology to send acoustic energy waves through sterile cleaning fluids — sweeping through the entire root canal system and dissolving bacteria, tissue and biofilm from places files can never reach.

Our speciality

Minimally invasive multisonic cleaning

Shwetha Dentistry is among the select clinics offering advanced acoustic fluid-wave cleaning protocols. The system cleans the tooth thoroughly while preserving maximum natural tooth structure, keeping the tooth strong.

3D deep cleaning

Single-visit efficiency

Super-efficient cleaning lets almost all cases finish in one visit.

Who is it for?

  • Patients seeking the gentlest, least invasive root canal experience
  • Complex cases with hard-to-reach accessory canals or curved roots

What to expect

The GentleWave procedure is highly comfortable. A custom tip is placed over your tooth; once activated, the machine produces a low hum and you feel a light, cool fluid movement inside the tooth — no harsh scraping, pressure or vibrations.

Performed at Shwetha Dentistry by our specialist endodontic team.

The Procedure, Step by Step

Exactly what happens during your the gentlewave® procedure — no surprises.

1

Minimal Access Cavity

Creating a tiny opening in the tooth to preserve its structure.

A very small access cavity is made in the crown of the tooth. Because metal files are not the primary cleaning tool, the opening does not need enlarging — preserving the natural strength of the tooth.

This conservative access keeps the tooth crown strong and less prone to fractures.

2

GentleWave Interface Placement

Securing the custom GentleWave interface over the tooth.

A custom-designed, single-use GentleWave interface cap is placed over the access opening, creating a closed system so the cleaning fluids circulate safely without leaking.

The closed system protects the surrounding gums and mouth during the cleaning cycle.

3

Multisonic Fluid-Wave Circulation

Circulating cleaning fluids while generating acoustic energy waves.

The GentleWave console pumps sterile cleaning fluids through the tooth while generating acoustic energy waves. The waves trigger micro-bubbles that scrub and clean all surfaces.

The combination of fluids and energy cleans deep into microscopic channels where files cannot reach.

4

Complete Debridement

Acoustic waves dissolve and wash away all organic tissue and bacteria.

The fluid waves dissolve and wash away infected pulp tissue, bacteria and biofilms from the main canals, accessory canals and microscopic side branches, leaving the canals completely clean.

This deep 3D cleaning reduces the risk of reinfection to near zero.

5

Clean Obturation

Sealing the clean canals with biocompatible materials.

Once the cleaning cycle is complete, the tooth is dried and the canals are sealed with a biocompatible bioceramic sealer and gutta-percha, creating a permanent, leak-proof seal.

The sealed canals allow the surrounding bone and gum tissues to heal.

Most patients report it feels very gentle. You hear a low hum from the machine and feel a light, cool fluid movement inside the tooth, but no scraping or harsh vibrations.

It is highly recommended for molars and complex teeth with curved roots, accessory canals or previously failed root canals. We assess your tooth during the consultation to confirm.

The more natural tooth structure we preserve, the stronger the tooth remains — preventing it from cracking or breaking under chewing pressure years down the road.

Metal files can only scrape the main channels, leaving side branches and microscopic tubules untouched. GentleWave uses fluid waves that flow into every tiny crevice, cleaning the entire space.

Yes. The system operates under controlled pressure, ensuring the cleaning fluids and energy waves remain inside the tooth and do not leak into surrounding tissues.

Yes. The efficiency of the GentleWave cleaning system allows us to consistently complete the entire root canal in a single visit.

Yes. Endodontists must undergo certification to operate the GentleWave system. Our specialists are certified to offer this treatment.
